Sailing a boat or being on board a sailing boat while yachting the oceans is an amazing experience. Taking a break from the routines of everyday life is a great way to detach from them. People who work in a job they love need to take a break every now and then. Holidays and trying out some new experiences in various environments are very important if you want to maintain a healthy and happy mind, body, and soul... People can of course plan their holidays in many ways, depending on what they have been missing in their normal lives; holidays to relax, holidays to experience, holidays to learn, holidays to party, romantic holidays, family holidays, and solo self-development holidays; the ones where you go in search of yourself.

After my first learn-to-sail holiday several years ago, I realized that I was getting a wide variety of experiences and enjoyments from one single holiday.

It is important to come out of the experience with some new skills. After a few of these sailing vacations, I might just have soaked up enough information from the experienced instructors and sailing crew so that I can obtain a boat captain's license and charter a yacht myself one day. It might seem like a pipe dream, but this is certainly a realistic goal and an amazing one at that! Therefore, I would highly recommend this type of holiday as a great way to 'get away from it all' and to de-stress. Feeling the wind blow through your hair, breathing in the freshest air, is an amazing feeling when you are on the ocean. Due to the fact you are learning a new skill and getting out of your normal 'comfort zone', you are usually going to be concentrating on what you are doing at that moment, so you can say that it is in a way similar to meditating. Thus, your mind is taken away from your usual worries and thoughts and placed in a place of concentration. After a week or two of holidaying while learning, you will feel renewed and ready to take on the world. Make sure you give it a try - you'll be surprised to find out how different it makes you feel.
